10-year-old Deepanjali lives in a small rented house in Delhi and still dares to dream beyond the surrounding miseries. She is in the 6th class of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya Mansarover Garden and endures all thirty-six of the daily hardships that would easily have made most students give up. But nothing could ever sweeten the spirit of Deepanjali in her pursuit of her goals.

A Family's Struggle for Survival

The father of Deepanjali, Mr. Chandra, earns a mere ₹8500 a month as a laborer. The past twenty-one years have been a grueling fight for the family. It is typical of such stories, where everything that has to do with the luxuries of life has to be cut to barely manage the necessities of the day. They live in a rented building that, day after day, reminds them of their hard life. On the other side, Deepanjali is waiting for that day when she will brighten this house.

Though it's against the odds, Deepanjali, a good student, learns with even more zeal than most and claims to be very keen on study and will not let the hurdles stop her. Education and fiery will add to success, which is what Deepanjali has to inspire a whole lot of others surrounding her.
