In a small rented house, Anjali Giri, 16, is nursing a dream that few of her age would dare risk. Currently a student of the 12th grade at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya School, Anjali's energy for education goes against the backdrop of the towering financial hardship that her family has been going through. To her, there is yet another world that can support her family and see her through the struggle that has made her life miserable.

A Family's Daily Struggle

Anjali's father, Mr. Kaushal, is an electrician who earns a meager ₹9600 every month. He has been the family's source of income for the past 14 years while they rented a house and fought against the ever-increasing cost of living. Monthly rent, food and necessities spread thin on their limited income have left them with little or no room to make space for anything other than survival.

Despite all of this, Anjali refuses to give up. She spends long hours balancing school with family responsibilities and says that she will do well in her board exams in 12th grade because of the pressure the likes of which she has never experienced.

Life has tossed up many challenges for Anjali, and she has proven that sheer grit can often pull one through the most demanding of circumstances. Excelling at school and in extracurricular activities, she is the embodiment of courageous resolve.
